Recently changed my Federal power steering pump and pulley as mine was badly bent at the edges. Super excited to get the car on the road only to find out once I installed it that the pulley sits 5\8 of an inch outward of the crank pulley. I don't know how this happened. It sounds like there is many different types of pulleys for the various types of pumps. My pulley is a 7 inch concave type and I clearly need a convex type. I bought a 6 inch saginaw pulley not realizing that the shaft diameter is different. So is there a pulley meant for my car? or do I have to take the saginaw pulley to a machine shop and have it modified? Even then the saginaw pulley wont be seated properly on the shaft to get it to line up. And is it safe to re-connect the lines to the pump..no pulley or belts and drive the car without powersteering ? And yes...the pulley is not on backwards. Thanks Jeff
